Residency program

Letter from the chairman

rubinWelcome to the Pediatric Residency Program at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Pediatrics at the VCU Medical Center has a long tradition of academic excellence, compassionate clinical care and state-of-the-art research to promote child health. Our program, based on the MCV Campus and the Brook Road Campus of CHoR, provides the breadth of inpatient and outpatient experience to empower residents to become excellent clinicians, child advocates and lifelong learners.

The program is designed to provide the foundation for a rewarding career in pediatrics. We have fellowships in many of the academic subspecialties of pediatrics, and pediatric residents are given opportunities to participate in community child advocacy, international medicine and world-class research. Each year about half of our graduating residents choose to continue in a subspecialty fellowship and about half go into general pediatrics practice.

At CHoR, we are committed to diversity of experience, person and culture, and we celebrate these differences that enrich the training and care we provide as pediatricians.

Richmond, Va., is a wonderful place to live and work. I invite you to visit us and meet our dedicated residents, faculty and staff. They make residency at VCU feel like family.
